'In the Boat'

April 16, 2026 - Navajo Lake
Water Temp: 52-59°F
Conditions: Thick clouds and calm to windy later in the day
Species caught: Smallmouth, Largemouth, Pike, Bluegill, Crappie
The smallmouth are fully dialed in. Limit of 15 pounds came in under two hours on Thursday, with fish all over the map and showing no signs of slowing down. These are quality fish — not the kind of numbers that require an asterisk. Bluegill have started making an appearance as well, fat and willing, which tracks with the warming water and suggests the panfish bite is about to get serious. Pike were mixed in throughout the day in all size classes, from juveniles up to 40-inch+ specimens. Spring on Navajo is doing what spring on Navajo does when it cooperates, and right now it is cooperating.
